Challenge: Remember When...
Hey, remember when...?

We said "I Do" 36 years ago?
Hey, remember when...?

...this young man was just a little kid?
well, he's become very camera shy and his mom had to snap this qiuckly and sent it to me from her i-phone. i just had to share it with the rest of ya'll.
we haven't decided on what to call him....what-a-dude or just-a-guy. those of you from texas will probably recognize the restaurant chain he's just gotten his first job at!
Remember when...

This shot is from our recent trip. Old Mansion in Jerome, AZ It was taken in Jerome, AZ which is a town that once was a thriving mining town. It almost became a ghost town and then artists and free spirited people bought up some of the old places and it is now a tourist town. The house in the shot was a mansion built by one of the mine owners and now it is a private home.
Remember the...

It has been almost two years since I posted anything except on Facebook. A lot has happened in my life since then - retirement, my Father's death, and my Mom incompacitated by a stroke. I just returned from a trip to the southwest and southern coast and I do have pictures to share so I will try to get back here more once again. The picture I would like to share today is one I shared about three years ago. Seen in Custer, S.D. , Well By Alamo
Bi-Weekly Challenge - Remember When
Remember When. 2..
For the past few weeks have been in the process of trying to do a photo book and came across this photo (which I had scanned at some time) that my dad is in (he is the one sitting in chair) picture taken Dec. 1982 and he died July, 1983.at the age of 55...
Hope all have had a gread day!!!
Remember when....

This was the norm.... film
(Saw this last fall in an eclectic store in Bridgeport CA.)
Remember when..
I couldn't find any things for the challenge, since I've moved 9 times in 15 years I've thrown a lot away. I did find one of my favorite photos, converted from a slide. I remember my family has always had a great sense of humor. My Dad did this in 1972 (that's me in the front row, right corner, green jumper). My parents were watching me, my brothers and cousins for a week and I think they had it with all of us : )
Have a great day : )
Remember When
I do not remember when most of these were taken but do know where...in Sevierville TN....'posing' on the front porch where we lived from the time I was 5 and we moved into another place when I was 11 yrs old...this house did not have an inside 'toilet/bathroom' which I am sure many of you remember---having to go outside all the time hot or cold weather--it did not matter.... 4 siblings --I am the oldest---mom and dad stopped at seven children.
Standing in the road in front of house mentioned above is my grandmother (from Ohio) and my great-grandmother (from SC)--you can barely see the purse my great-grandmother is holding but that purse always had a gun in it for protection (as I remember her telling me------she died when I was 13) grandma gr grandma
Moving right along is a picture of one of my aunts who is 2 1/2 yrs older than me and me holding the little doll--this pic was taken in Campbell County TN--am guessing I was about 2yrs old... aunt and niece
This next one is not quite as old--one of me and my husband taken in late 1965
Hope all of you have a great day!!!
Bi-Weekly Challenge - Remember When

Remember when the grass was green? Remember when the roads were dry? Remember when you could walk on the sidewalk without fear of falling down? Remember when you could go outside without six layers of clothing?
I do, it seems like it was only yesterday.
WAIT!! It was only yesterday!
These were taken last night and this morning.
Yep, we got dumped on.
Missing Man
Unfortunately, I do not remember this. It was a missing man flight flyover at my father's funeral in 1950. I was 1 1/2 years old. Missing Man Flight
This is a scan from an old official Air Force photo. I tried to darken it but I don't have the knowledge to do it right.
Bi-Weekly Challenge - Remember When

Sub-title: How Geeky are you?
Turn back the hands of time.
Do you think you could set at this machine for eight hours? Key punch machine
Here is the keyboard. Keyboard
Now let's move forward a few years, but not many.
The start of home computing. Apple Computer
And to go on-line, the acoustic modem. Modem
Just think how far your smart phones have come.
(Equipment pictured from the 'at work' museum.)
Challenge - Swap Meet

I went to a local swap meet to look for nostalgia pictures. They had a lot of stuff.
I came across a picture of these handsome fellows, so I took a picture of the picture. I remember thinking they were hilarious when I was growing up, maybe because they were even goofier than I was.
And there was a poster of this pretty lady with a HUGE head, so I took a picture of that, too.
And this looks like a good way to get your daily dose of iron along with your coffee or tea--along with your daily dose of rust.
I'm guessing that someone around here will have used one of these. Apparently, you clamp it to a table, stuff a cow in the top and turn the crank, and hamburger comes out the end. I think I like the nice little packages in the grocery store better. And what does it mean by "tinned?"
And the last time I saw these socks, they were sticking out from under a house and a bunch of strange little folks were dancing around and singing about it and telling the young girl from the house to hit the bricks and go see a lizard or something.

Remember when... Challenge II

I remember when it was hip to be hep to be cool to be popular and patriotic! My dad had been in Seoul, Korea flying radar strike in Viet Nam. You cant see my wrists but both of them have 3 each POW/MIA bracelets on them. Two of them were guys from my dads squadren. I wore red white and/or blue everyday he was gone.
The day my father came home: with his parents & with my brothers & I (note the Boston Terrier our Rodger Ramjet...remember that cartoon)
It wasn't all bad....
Remember When... The 1940's
These are very old photos of my childhood in the 40's. playing with my doll was definitely a favorite pass time. My mother and two grandmothers posing the ladies . My sister and I at my first communion . And our first car our oldsmobile .
For those of you who are my contemporaries, you will probably recognize the style of dress and perhaps the backgrounds.
